This would be great with a spot of red, maybe the bow on the scarf.

Eco Craft

I checked out a fun book at the library called eco craft.  I've read several "green" craft books, but this one is by far my favorite.

The projects in this book are really beautiful when finished.
Light fixture made from plastic grocery bags.

Several six-packs of beer later will leave you with lattice for your screen!

A tote made from your favorite coffee bags. Everything would smell like coffee but we are from Seattle aren't we?
My favorite.....light fixtures made from milk jugs!

So many projects, so little time.  What I know for sure.....I can repaint the glass bottles shown on the front of the book cover.

My New Favorite Find

This is my new favorite gift to give the little people in my life. Check out Eco-kids paint, play dough and other fun creative tools. ecokidsusa.com. is a great site to check out.  I won't retell their story, I will let you read for yourselves. With natural extracts from sweet potatoes, paprika and blueberries it's almost good enough to eat.  Along with the fact that it is a safe product to play with, I love to discover business owners passionate about what they do. I'm a sucker for great packaging also!

HONEYSUCKLE

.
PANTONE revealed their new color of the year..........Honeysuckle!  I'm already incorporating this color into new projects.  The name of my art studio "A Spot of Color" was creating because of colors like honeysuckle.  Neutrals with a SPOT of your favorite color enhances and makes a statement

Urban Chic

I love to start new projects.  Along with some holiday boxes, I have started a series of wine boxes I call Urban Chic.  This first one I completed is called numbers (for obvious reasons).  I bought some new antique items and funky new embellishments to add.  Metallic colors are popular in fashion right now, so I thought I would bring that color scheme into my art.

GRATITUDE

Thank you to all of my family and friends that attended the Edmonds Art Walk.  It was successful not only because I sold some of my favorite items but I met some truly nice people that I hope to see again.  I also tasted some nice wine.  Speaking of nice wine, no I mean amazing wine, check out http://www.sparkmancellars.com/  If you haven't tasted their wine it should be added to your list of things to do.  They are located in Woodinville and well worth a visit. Cheers!

Getting ready for The Edmonds Art Walk

I have been invited to participate in The Edmonds Art Walk on Thursday, October 21st so if you are in the area, please come and visit me from 5:00pm-8:00pm.  I will be selling wine boxes and other related wine art at Arista Wine Cellars.  I can't think of a nicer way to spend an evening than being with great friends surrounded by bottles of wine.  One of my favorite gifts to give on any occasion is a great bottle of wine.  I discovered these great wine boxes and started painting them for friends.  It really makes a special gift.

These pictures aren't of the highest quality, but you can get kind of an idea what I'm painting. The box above is one I did for my amazing friend Stacie for her birthday and below is a box that will be for sale that night. I will eventually post some on etsy......all in due time.  Happy Friday!

Selling on etsy!

I am finally selling art on etsy.  This watercolor is called "Bedtime"  and no, I do not recommend children and babies crawl out of their beds to climb on top of the roof to look at the moon. I did think it was a funny idea though.  The rest of my art can be viewed at http://www.aspotofcolor.etsy.com/.

French Antiques?

If you told me twenty years ago that I would like french antiques, I would have laughed hysterically.  Lately I am obsessed with everything French.  This book will inspire you to paint muted colors on your walls, buy something old to place on your mantle, buy a ticket to France or just read with a nice glass of wine with someone named Pierre, or in my case, Greg.

A tribute to our Newfoundland Maya

Our dog Maya is featured in the picture I painted above.  It is part of a large canvas I painted called "A Dogs Life" which will be on sale soon on ETSY.com.  She was a part of our family for twelve years and sadly died last October.  We miss our big, slobbery bear but have the best memories of her.
